Dear Desiree,

A topic many are interested in is weight loss. But one of the key obstacles to weight loss is controlling what you eat. At times it may feel impossible to refuse that cookie, piece of cheesecake or soda. So what do you do if you have;

sugar craving blues?

tiramisuWhether you crave sugar, or require bread or pasta with your meal to feel like you have eaten, at one time or another you have probably experienced the sugar craving blues. That one last bite is simply irresistible.

Well, one method of resisting is if you never really desire it in the first place. So let us discuss factors that may lend to your cravings.

Vitamin B's are a key nutrient to preventing the blues, sugar or otherwise. But Vitamin B is not stored in the body and you may need to take them 3 to 4 times a day at intervals to maintain sufficient levels. Many need to take it with every meal to maintain a temperate mood, and I invariably suspect Vitamin B deficiencies when a patient complains of having the sugar craving blues.

Parasites in the body can also make a request from our blues band. Parasites can make us either underweight or overweight, weaken our system and if we don't play their favorite number, become quite demanding. My office supplies several products I have found effective in treating and eradicating parasites so we can call our own tune.

Water, yet again, is vital to the body and drinking enough of it can slow your eating down. Dehydration makes energy levels flag and may lead to the body seeking "energy" and thus, singing those blues. And remember you need to drink water to get water - sadly  coffee, teas or juices don't count.

spinal columnAnother one is Potassium. Potassium helps regulate blood sugar levels. When potassium levels start to drop the body can start its song for sugar to "boost" energy which then creates further depletions of Potassium as the body draws on its reserves to cope with highs and lows of sugar consumption.

So if your body sings the sugar craving blues its time for a nutritional appointment. Call the office and schedule (727) 446-1141.

handling craving for sugar

"Recently I had been voraciously eating sugar. I figured something must be wrong and talked to Dale about it. He hatted me on vitamin B and taking my vitamin B more regularly throughout the day. I realized I had deviated from the nutritional program he had worked out for me which included taking vitamin B at every meal time. So I went back onto the program he had given me, including the specific vitamin B product that he had tested on me, and voila - I am eating much less sugar products and in smaller portions. I simply don't crave it anymore.

Thanks, Dale. As always, you are my stable source of information on handling my body."

Greenhouse

The members of the B-Complex family of vitamins work collectively to metabolize fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. They are each singularly responsible for many important physiological processes concerned with both physical and mental well-being.

Thiamine (vitamin B1), for example is responsible for breaking down carbohydrates into simple sugar, which the body then oxidizes to produce energy for all the cells. Vitamin B6 regulates and maintains the delicate fluid balance throughout the body and upholds a proper potassium and sodium balance at cellular level. And so on.

Cataplex B from Standard Process is a quality vitamin B extracted from multiple plant and animal sources to create a complex of all the vitamin Bs.

Cataplex B can be purchased in small or large bottles at our office (727) 446-1141.
